Dante Alighieri was a great Italian poet and the author of The Divine Comedy. He became a philosopher and political opponent of Pope Boniface VIII and was banished from Florence Italy. The Divine Comedy was written while he was in exile. This bust has been in a private, non-smoking home. The base is 8 1/4" across, and is approximately 3 1/2" wide.
