When we started the business, I was very very sick. I had lost so much weight that I looked anorexic. My lungs were failing me, and I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. I had to quit my customer service position because of this reason. We were raised up around antiques, collectibles, and jewelry all our life. The joint decision was then made for me to start the business by turning a hobby into a career. I do most of the cleaning and polishing of everything. I take most of the photographs, I do the pricing, the inventory control and I do most of the website as well. I get some help from my husband who is the financial side of things, and my son helps me with the technical issues on the website since he now has a degree in computers. I try my best to keep all the websites up to date, but with only so much time in a day, sometimes I do get behind in one or two of the other websites. The store website is always first priority. I built the store website without any outside help from family or friends. It was a learning experience for all of us. We get all of our merchandise either from auctions or estate sales, and we travel throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia to acquire the right merchandise. One day our goal is to hand the business day to our son and his family. There is always something new happening here at The Silver Mine Trading Post, and things are never boring. Please be sure to check out our other websites as well- Pinterest, Flickr, Tumblr, Facebook, Instagram, and also a YouTube channel. We try to cover all areas of the internet as some people do not have Facebook.
